Backyard

There was a backyard

Filled with green grass and not charred

I used to run across it

Hair unfurling against thick thrusts of wind

Atmosphere feeling cooled and thinned

Legs extended, Brownie heaves down on the ground

His gentle pants provide the only sound

My back settles against the oak tree

Green leaves dissolving until free

At times, leaves flutter down

Sprinkling across the ground

Like candies

Crafting multicolored valleys

When the weather is  filled with snow

I go

Down to the ground; my cheeks feeling soft fur

My ears hearing the soft rising and receding assure

Of Brownie; his face determined and protective

Through the harsh winds and cloudy snow subjected

Against us

I run against the prickly bushes and branches

These images fixated in my head; expansions
