Uncompromising
I root for the woman on the television,
The demonized, selfish
Petty cheater of a woman
Who must have spilled the drink on purpose,
Who was definitely chosen because of her looks,
Who must have not-worked-hard-enough
To win this reality show or contest or what-have-you.
Who made a mistake and refused to apologize for it,
Who must have tried her best and still did not win.
I root for the girls we roll our eyes at,
Who we call “starved for attention” when she tries to stand out
And a follower when she does not.
For the women we call too feminine when backstage they are told
To be more ladylike.
I hold their failures close to me
Because I know that if that someone cheers them on when the stage does not
I can be assured when my turn arrives.
