Together We Survive
Another one has fallen
A friend
A brother
The son of a grieving mother
Gathered around the sleek black box
The flag sits on top
The sickening smell of flowers fills the space
The classic ‘I’m sorry’ given through a vase
The melodies of windchimes blow softly in the breeze
The musical dings flowing with ease
Muffled cries escape
Trying to remain quiet
Wishing they could just grieve in private
But there is beauty in the pain
In the darkest moments
There is something big to gain
The deepest form of love
That can only be felt through the drop of a tear
The comfort of hearing someone say
“I am here”
The warm embrace lets it be known
That no one will ever completely be alone
The love creates a promise of a better tomorrow
One filled with a little less sorrow
One day the pain will soften
And together we can make sure they are never forgotten
