the sun dance

the girl cupped the fallen stars
into her gentle hands and
held them up to her mouth
blowing her sweet breath of
life into them a faint
smile tugged at the girl's lips
as if caught in some
distant memory the ethereal glow
of the stars themselves seemed
to dance upon her sun-kissed
skin as she tossed them
into the midnight sky and
brilliant stardust rained down to coat
the earth beneath her feet
