The Calm Before the Storm
A storm is brewing.
It appears as a tornado.
Not a weather pattern, not the wind, but a human being.
My brother is coming home.
Home without notice.
Home occupying space.
Home creating chaos.
All because of covid.
The tide turned with a blink of an eye.
Hand sanitizer became lotion,
Zoom became hang outs,
Smiling with our eyes became the new way of life.
All because of covid.
The forecast seems bleak.
Empty shelves, no toilet paper in sight.
Empty stadiums, no fans to unite.
Empty schools, no papers to write.
Empty restaurants, soggy french fries each night.
All because of covid
We will ride out the storm.
Wash our hands until raw,
Gather 6 feet apart
And wear a mask over our nose.
All because of covid.
Quarantine is this storm I can't escape,
ICU has full beds.
269,000 U.S. people dead.
But, I sense a ray of hope
And blue skies are upon us
As this covid cyclone subsides.

We have all been in quarantine for 9 months now and alot of us are feeling really tired of it. We all feel traped in a storm that we can't escape. That is why I chose to write a poem about Covid-19 and quaratnine.
