The Giver

A far away game

This thing between us

A constant struggle

Of how I should approach

Which is a better road for me to take?

Doubling back every day

The roads become more foggy

The mist gathers up the forest of confusion

Yet I try so every day

For you to see my cries

Your name echoes from across

The imaginary ocean that separates

Our two lonesome souls

My small hands blow up a storm

As I try to wave to catch your eye

Everyday I try to say hello

But all I get is no response

A slight wave may do

A gentle nod,

that would shine ever so bright

Perhaps even a half smile

That’s all I need

Is it that hard to acknowledge me?

Days pass and no response

What should I do?

So many tries and no success

Is this what is called failure?

Am I at fault or do you not care?

All I want is something small

A start of a blossoming connection

One simple wave

A gentle nod or even a smile

It’s not much I ask

Yet, I think I act as a burden

After all, who am I to ask

For a simple hint that I matter

Or for an embrace

I give out freely

The Reciever

There is nothing too special

Of the connection we have

A simple relationship is all

I am who I am and you are you

I stand on the same path

Stagnant as the unwavering stone

A clear field for my choice

The sun shows every grass that grows

Why should I leave this very path?

People come and go; but I am still here

I hear the cries

That comes from a feet away

From the outgoing soul to one passive soul

I can see the waves out of the corner

From the person across the court

Everyday dozens of greetings pass

And I began to lose track

I see all the greetings

And I wave, nod, and smile

The best effort in each one

Perhaps it’s not enough for you

That’s what I give

Is it that hard to notice my small greetings?

Days pass and no notice

What should I do?

I gave it my best shot

Is it them that’s ignoring me?

Maybe they may be caught up

On their misgivings and distrust

That they don’t see my very efforts

Of a simple wave

A small nod and slight smile

I give it to them

Yet, they never seem to see

After all, who am I to ask

For someone to see my efforts

For a chance of connection

Perhaps it’s time for a change
