Painted Dreams

She dreams in silver and gold.
Her mind swirls like freshly mixed paint.
A life ahead of her.
Fantasy and ambition,
A life of recognition.
Famous for paintings and books.
But she wants to be smart and spend her life in the oceans.
Choices on top of choices.
Her dream of art and passion,
Living in Paris,
Seeing the world.
Her heart longs for everything she can't have.
At least, she can't have it yet.
College is 3 years ahead,
Life awaits even longer.
So she dreams at night of sugar plums
painted gold.
