I see you from a distance
Wind-swept hair
A cheeky grin
Bright eyes that sparkle
And speak of intelligence.
I sit in my seat
Hoping you’ll notice me
As school-girl butterflies
Puddle in my stomach.
Ridiculous, I tell myself.
Now’s not the time
For a silly crush.
You walk toward me.
My heart skips a beat.
Did you notice me?
Your eyes pass me over
And settle behind me.
