but not broken

the sun rises
i know now that
i too will heal
scarred i am
but not broken
i am not the person that i was
before the first sunset
that's okay because
as the sun rises
i am ready to own the day
scarred i am
but
no i am not broken
the sun may set once more
but i am no longer
afraid of the dark
i know now
that morning can come
when i least expect it
and that i too
can heal
scarred i am
but not broken
no i was never really
broken after all
