A Pretty Happenstance
Every morning brings
A pretty happenstance.
Should I be the same,
An effortless romance?
Oh, to be adorned
With rosy lips and cheeks.
Not a flaw in sight,
What any woman seeks.
But may I be bold
Or less than perfection?
Are my looks only
A means of affection?
Must I be demure
And honeysuckle sweet?
Must I speak my mind
While gazing at my feet?
The sunrise is fair,
Each day begins anew.
Yet, am I defined
By someone else’s view?
