Where am
I’m from the big tan house a place of protection and full
of love. Memories whee made and laughter was found
I’m from adventures summer nights painted with a pastel
paintbrush in the sky.
Late night campfire talks and cans of mountain dew feelings
I’m from running away into the night discovering who I am.
Fresh crisp air filling up my lungs. Constellations lighting up
the sky like a nightlight in a dark room.
I’m from chipped glitter nail polish from shooting at rims, practicing
footwork and perfecting my plays
My curly hair tied in a tight ponytail swaying as I run down the court.
I’m from looking at new pallets of a variety of colors that I want to
paint my face with, “but mom I want to lo just like them.”
“Your perfect just the way you are naturally hun”
He doesn't see that nor do I see it...
gold painted eyelids, red lips, and highlighted cheekbones-
I’m just like them and he sees me now.
