Why can't life be a poem?

Abstract and open to interpretation

No right or wrong

Just things as they are

Why can't pain be like a song stuck in your head?

So quiet to start

That you can't be sure when it began

A throb at the back of your mind

Instead of sharp

Flashing

And Burning

Can't it be dull

And fade out so slowly

That you can't be sure when it stopped

Why can't sorrow be like a fairytale?

A problem that is always resolved

With a hero

And a villian

And most importantly

Happily

Ever

After

But I get it

I know why it can't

It's because

We are meant to live out loud

To feel every emotion so vividly

To experience the sharpest pains

And the neverending sorrows

So that we can feel the greatest joys

And the deepest loves

In real life

There is a right and wrong

In real life pain burns

In real life there are no Happily Ever Afters

But there are happy moments

And things that dull the pain

And you are free to see life any way you want

But remember

In the darkest of times

When everything seems wrong

And all you can feel is pain

And you don't understand how the hero can defeat the villian

And you just want to go numb

Remember

Why life can't be a poem
