It Was
It was
just
one
joke
and my smile
slid
off
my face
Quickly I plastered a new one on
That hid my hurt
It was
just
one
silly
debate
that was poking on nerves far to harshly
That made me feel the need to fight
It was nothing
"I didn't mean it"
He said
as I cried
"It was just a joke
taken too far"
It was
just
one
night
when I explained how I felt
that we were drifting apart
It was just one phrase he replied with
that was a slap to the face
It was
just
one
thing
here or there
It was
just different instances
that were becoming far to frequent
That made up my mind
That
just
one
day
soon
I'd have to say goodbye
