Rain doesn't mean today will be a bad day.

I used to love this Country

The land of the free

And the home of the brave

But I look to the TV

And see children locked in cages

I look around as I walk the streets of the city

I see people afraid,

Afrid of those around them

At school there's conversations

Aout if we'll be next

We're supposed to worry about

College applications and jobs

Not if we'll be shot in our classrooms

That's what happens now

Adults around us say

We're too young to understand the world around us

And how these problems don't involve us,

Yet here we are

The ones the issues effects most

We're immature,

We don't truly care about all of this

But if they aren't trying to fix things

Aren't they describing themselves?

I used to love his country

But now,

It has the brave silencd or buried

And the free are the rich and white

I watch the flag hang half raised

And hope one day

I'll love this country again

One day I was annoyed with everything that is going on in this country, the only way I could express those feelings were through words.

I love that you can put words to how so many students feel at school each day. Incredible.
