Ballad Of Two Trees
Once upon a time there was a dark forest.
It was a forest few dared to roam.
Because once you enter the realm,
You might never return home.
The forest was a place of darkness.
A place of sorrow, a place of hopelessness.
Anything that wanders the realm,
Will be in anxiety, nothing less.
In this forest there were two young trees.
They were lifeless, thin and fragile.
The trees suffered day and night in the forest.
Nothing was enough, nothing was worthwhile.
On two o’clock when lightning struck,
The roots of the two trees joined together.
Two pained souls have become one.
The two trees fell in love with each other.
Soon after the two trees gained life once more,
Leaves and fruit returned to their branches.
The two trees provided everything for each other.
And the birds came, mockingbirds and finches.
Their roots were united into one,
Their bond brought light to the forest.
It seemed like it was all happily ever after.
Well, this forest offers no rest.
The wind offered the first test to the trees in love,
Pain reentered the soul of the trees.
But it was okay this time, they had each other.
They would no longer be scared by the breeze.
On two o’clock when lightning struck,
The roots of the two trees joined together.
Two pained souls have become one.
The two trees fell in love with each other.
The days turned into weeks,
weeks to months, months to years.
The two trees lived in harmony
They no longer had any fears.
The two trees have been through a lot.
Nothing could seem to break their bond so strong,
In troubled times they held tight to each other.
And in the end of the day they sang this song,
On two o’clock when lightning struck,
The roots of the two trees joined together.
Two pained souls have become one.
The two trees fell in love with each other.
Soon it felt like the dark left the forest for good,
Nothing was too hard for the two of them.
Their branches grew strong and had plenty of life.
Their roots were one, independence they condemned.
Then the cold winter approached the forest,
Their branches were frozen, but not their soul.
They held tight to each other.
Nothing could defeat them, not even the cold.
On two o’clock when lightning struck,
The roots of the two trees joined together.
Two pained souls have become one.
The two trees fell in love with each other.
Then as the full moon shone bright in the sky,
The earth quaked and shook, the stars were falling!
One of the trees fell on its side.
The other tree was desperately calling.
For hours the tree tried to pick his lover up,
But nothing it did could get the tree off its side.
As days past, the pain increased.
Their intertwined roots were in pain far and wide.
They knew this was their last chance.
Again the two trees tried, with iron will.
But all it did was cause more pain.
Their intertwined roots were in great pain still.
Soon the two trees had overwhelming sadness in their soul,
They loved each other, they wanted the best for each other.
They said,”Cut the roots, I can’t stand seeing you in pain.”
It has been done. The bond was no longer together.
Then it was time to say goodbye.
They touched branches and cried,,
“Never forget when we were young.
When we joined roots and our loneliness died.”
Soon both of them were about to let out
their final breath.
But they sang for the last time,
On two o’clock when lightning struck,
The roots of the two trees joined together.
Two pained souls have become one.
The two trees fell in love with each other.
The dark forest mourned that night,
On two o’clock when lightning struck.
