Pour me just one more, sir
And then I’ll take a drive.
My love is lovely torture
And I don’t want to feel tonight.

I’ll take it on the rocks, sir
Just add it to my tab.
I appreciate your offer,
But please don’t call a cab.

I hope that you don’t mind, sir
But I’ll stay a little longer.
And when you pour the next one,
Would you make it a little stronger?

I know you’ve heard it all, sir
From heartaches to the blues.
You’ve wiped tears off of these barstools,
And paid more than just your dues.

I don’t know what to do, sir
I’m not sure what to say.
I never thought I’d lose her,
But I scare them all away.

I know the bar is closed, sir
But I’ve got nowhere to be.
I see your shift is almost over,
Would you sit here next to me?

This drink will be my last, sir
That I promise you.
This may not be the answer,
But what am I to do?

Tell me about you, sir
And what you aspire to be.
Me, I’m just a loser
Too drunk to count to three.

I’ll now be on my way, sir
I wish you a good night.
I’m not one for a razor,
But I think I’ll be alright.

I guess I told a lie, sir
I’m nowhere near okay.
A few more drunken strides,
And I could take the pain away.

I’m face to face with headlights, sir
You did all that you could.
But should I die tonight,
I know tomorrow will be good.

I guess you got the news, sir
I made waste of my life.
But no matter what you do,
Hold nothing closer than your wife.

So pour yourself one more, sir
And then go take a drive.
The thought of me is torture,
But you don’t have to feel tonight.
