"The One," Or Maybe the Two
Painstakingly particular and insanely infatuated,
I again witnessed my trust decay.
Left once more in limitless dismay,
What is it that drives them away?
Flirtatiously free, yet stuck on thee.
Matters not how long it’s been,
My selfish heart let you in.
Fighting a war, none will win.
Now nervous and nauseous I wonder,
Shall I bury my ambition?
And not feed my superstition?
That is the question.

The title suggests it all- it's a love poem, but not the typical love poem! The idea for this piece came along when I was dipping my toes in the literary waves of different genres; I decided to take a satirical stance on the tense subject matter that is "love."
