"There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed."
-Ernest Hemingway

It’s like falling
off a mountain
with no parachute.

It feels like forever
within a short fall.
Everything moves slowly
until you’re near the ground.

And what is the ground?
something safe
something that will surely
catch you as you fall
something worth falling for.

So as I’m falling
I look down to you
and you look up at me
and our eyes meet
for the briefest moment.

And in that moment
even though gravity
is bringing me to you
my heart makes a run for it.

Will you catch me?
if I let you catch everything
will it get too heavy?
Will you drop me?

And what if someone else
falls through your sky?
Will you drop me to catch them?
Will I get too heavy in your arms?

Will the grass below us
wither and die?
leaving you to seek
brighter
greener
more alive
patches of lawn.

Or will my weight be enough?
Will you accept everything?
if I let you catch all of me.
And if you let me hold on to all of you,
will we be enough?

Our eyes are closer now.
There’s no more time to think.
I’m almost to you now.
at any minute
I

will

fall

into

your

arms.

Please

be

ready

to

catch
all

of

me.
