This Poem is Not About You
I’m not in love with anyone
I’m happy on my own
And even if I wasn’t, well
I wouldn’t whine and moan.
I’m not in love with you, for sure
That’s a stupid thing to be
And there’s no reason that your face
Should make it hard to breathe.
I’m not in love, I’m still too young
To say it out, to shout it
And if I was old and wise enough
I’d whisper so you’d doubt it.
I’m not in love, I’ve said before
I can’t just keep repeating
And I’m not drowning sorrows in
This chocolate I’m not eating.
I’m not in love, of course I’m not
I’d think that I would know
And even if I thought I was
I wouldn’t tell you so.
