A-10 Thunderbolt

A streak in the sky,
grey lightning flashing by.
Out of the nose erupts a fire,
to those on the ground becomes a fryer.
The Thunderbolt’s roar,
strikes fear in enemies at war.
Though most are frightened,
one was excited.
To the recruitment office he headed,
so a new pilot can be created.
Months later he is a new recruit,
standing awkwardly in his boot.
Through training he will wander,
while dreaming of the wild blue yonder.
