"Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened."

-Dr. Seuss

Freedom is not free,
It was bought with a price for you and me.
To our soldiers we owe a great debt,
They fought for our freedom with some facing death.
Their homes and families they left behind,
To fight for the Freedom of future mankind.
Their courage is tested when they'ree made
To stand in line with a drill sergeant screaming in their face.
But onward they march through good and bad
Thinking of the freedom they allow us to have.
When training is done onward they go,
Out to the battlefield of desert, jungle, or snow.
They look for a place to camp for the night,
Under the stars and moon shining bright.
Finally to sleep the begin to drift,
Dreams coming and going in swift.
They dream of their wives they love dearly,
And of their children they miss so severely.
Suddenly, they're awakened by a gunshot in the air!
The enemy had arrived and there was no time to spare!
They loaded their guns and made ready their weapons,
Swearing to fight till they saw the gates of Heaven.
A soldier prayed to God and said:
"Lord, help me to fight strong till I am dead."
A BLAST and a BOOM! the war had begun,
Every soldier on the field fought till he was done.
Finally there were very few left,
And the one prayerful soldier was very near death.
But God Almighty was not done with him yet!
He would fight very strong till nothing was left.
The soldier looked behind him and saw
His best friend lying dead in blood and straw.
And that soldier bitterly wept
For his dear friend lying there dead.
The soldier remembered then in his mind,
"No soldier is ever left behind."
So he picked up his friend, his lips set in a determined line,
And carried him through the battlefield, bullets whizzing by.
The Bible says, "Let us therefore endure hardships as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
This applies to a soldier and all of life.
There's a time for war,
A time for peace,
But let thanks to our soldiers never cease.
Their courage is priceless,
Their faith invincible,
Our freedom is their number one principle.
Give thanks to God for soldiers who care enough
To even give their lives to make freedom
Part of us.
