Rain.
That night a young girl lost her way
In dark and wind-whipped streets.
Neon lights reflected in asphalt pools,
The rain fell down in sheets.
One of a thousand runaways
Not knowing what they seek.
Sought shelter in a cardboard box.
Rough streets aren’t for the meek.
Alone and filled with second thoughts
The girl began to weep.
As her mournful cries echoed round,
Vagrants did circle and creep.
Dead-end alley and no way out,
She didn’t have a prayer.
She closed her eyes to inevitable fate,
And death met her unaware.
This is the story of a girl named Rain,
A daughter loved and lost.
Who thought she was misunderstood,
With life she paid the cost.
