Doubly Blessed
The apples were blooming
On the cool, crisp night
When my birth was looming
The race was on to the hospital.
Doctor Thibodeaux met us there.
He said the babies would soon be here.
Grannie arrived with a pink and blue bear
For it was true there would be two.
As the contractions intensified,
The nurses prepared the room.
The labor pains magnified
And we readied ourselves to enter the world.
Andrew came first.
Everyone oohed and aawed,
But wait there was another outburst.
It was my turn to appear.
Twenty fingers, twenty toes
One bouncing baby boy
Two babies with cheeks of rose
One gorgeous baby girl.
How very busy Mom and Dad will be
Taking care of two preemies.
Now that they have added to their family
Two blessings form above.
