Take Another Look
Scattered all about the floor,
Leaves of parchment,
And little more.
There's blotted ink across the lines;
Read between them,
And read his mind.
Look! stains in the margins hide,
Where tears once fell,
But you were blind.
His words aren't meant for bleary eyes,
To take brief glance,
And pass them by.
Read them slowly, with more care,
And you'll see why,
He placed them there.
For in verse lies the crystal of,
A poet's heart:
'Tis his beloved.
