Men sent out to danger

The worst was upon their way

One by one they went

This was in May

In the past of 1945

Men opposing their life

That battle changed the world

The ground sharp as a knife

The battle of Okinawa

Heavy artillery and shooting

It was at their fingertips

The time needed for saluting

Lots of soldiers needed

Sacrifices for their loved ones

Losing men left and right

Hearts lost of young sons

The destruction was horrible

Setting up more at camp

Many have survived the battle

Letters sent out with a stamp

Soon to return home

Soldiers near their limits

This war was for greatness

Families ringing with limited minutes

Men thanked for their service

Soldiers on a path with no fun

Passing away with great honor

The achievement has been done

Hello, poetry editor, I used this poem to resemble the battle of "Okinawa" because the battle was a very important event in our history. Also, I like to learn about war because it interests me in many ways. I am currently a high school senior I am begining poetry in my creative writing class. "Okinawa" is my favorite poem I have written because I am able to express things I enjoy learning.
