the mourning mother
The sun broke on a winter day
With the sorrow of a mourning mother
With the death of her infant on a bale of hay
She and her brother wept to each other
In the night she heard a cry of sadness
She awoke to the ghost of her baby boy
She stood there thinking it was madness
She started to weep and say “why my little baby boy”

I made this poem when I was in eighth grade in my encore class a couple months ago.
