From Goodbye To Hello
As I turned to say my final good-byes
Teardrops fell from my bloodshot eyes
I waited for a second more, but as you bowed
Your head, I headed for the door
I listened for your voice behind me
One simple word and again it could be
But nothing seemed to reach my ears as the doors to the elevator closed
So I leaned against the cold mirrored walls, as the world around me slowed
I thought about the times that were now the past
And I tried to figure out when you realized it wouldn’t last
We went from late night phone calls, to no phone calls at all
From sharing dreams and promises, to sharing nothing but flaws
But I can’t find that one moment, that made your resentment for me begin to show
It seems like to you, I am a person that you no longer want to know
The elevator dings, but as I step out of what seemed my grave
There you are in front of me begging me to stay
I shake my head, rub my eyes, and ponder whether this is true
Then I realize that standing there in front of me…is you.
