The Biggest Critic
You think you’re doing enough
But you never are.
So, you take a deep breath,
And add another scar.
Your mind is like a battlefield;
That’s why nobody stays.
You tell yourself it’s for the best,
But on the inside, you wish it didn’t have to be that way.
Someone offers a compliment
But you hear a jeering taunt.
It’s hard to love yourself
When you think you’re constantly at fault.
You’re your biggest critic
With words you tell yourself.
Never believing someone
Because in your world there is no one else.
Let me tell you something
I wish I had known
Before those thoughts came
And my self-esteem was blown.
When everything falls apart,
Simply use this tool:
Breathe in, Breathe out,
And don’t forget I believe in you, too.
