Birthdays
They’re a dream come true when you were a child
You have a vivid memory of your
themed parties of your favorite characters
But once you grow up they seem to change
They don’t seem as fun anymore
The theme stops and all you get is a
“Happy Birthday!” and some cake
Kids have the best and most amazing memories
Of their birthday parties but why did it all stop?
What changed in us? Why did we change?
Why did they have to get more
Disappointing each time as we grow?
Life changes us and we aren’t the same anymore
We don’t even mention if it’s our birthday anymore
What’s the point?
Why should we waste our time celebrating?
We grow old and look back on our childhood birthdays
And hope to feel that joy again
