Music

It can sometimes
be horrifically ugly
and make you want to
tear your ears off.
Thankfully
nothing that I hear
does

What I hear
is beauty
caught and written
on paper.
Some notes
smooth and mellow,
others
aggressive and hard

The bass
playing low
cold notes,
while the
violin
plays fast, high
chords

Trumpets
blasting their
beat
and giving life
to song

Trombones
full of melody
give the song,
(almost like
a painting)
a background

A cello
solemn
and quiet.
Words flow
from long strings

An oboe
grants compassion
and peace
with its
old
kind
scratchy voice

The clarinet
gives a mellow
soft
sound
of such delicacy
you cannot help
but hug the notes

To me
music is more
than entertainment,
it is something that-
even though I
and others
may try-
is impossible
to describe

The author's comments:
I know those who read this will probably think that I'm just a lot of metaphpors to make this poem sound better, but I just want to clarify that this really how I feel about certain musical pieces. I also do think that I have a greater appreciation for clasical music (easily my favorite type of music) than some of my other peers. But if you do or don't enjoy clasical music, please read away.
