Where I Come From
I come from waters as wide as seas,
Fossils with etchings of spiraling pools
The inconsistent waves create these imprints of animals unknown.
I come from Indian legends,
The storms who took lives to shape the dunes from where I stand,
And the pieces of their love form the glass that protects me.
I come from music, its’ flames engulf my soul,
And I reclaim the embers from echoes of ghosts,
So that I may sing them to the universe.
I come from memories
A dark blue veil hides some,
But others are shown proudly atop the hills of Ireland.
I come from family
The ones who created me,
As well as the ones we adopt ourselves into.
I come from the past and the future
The people I’ve met,
And the nephew coming to greet me.
I come from nowhere and everywhere
