On turning sixteen
Silly little girl
Life isn’t that simple
You can’t live in the land
Of rainbows and sunshine forever
You must grow up
Kiss all your dependence
On your parents goodbye
Because they are throwing you
Into the inevitable oblivion
That is the rest of your life
You must make more decisions
And be more responsible
You have to drive everywhere
And pay for everything
You are expected to get a job
So I’m sorry little girl
But life will tear you apart
And you will get your heart broken
And fall on your face
But it’s all a part of growing up.
