Emptiness
She disappeared from within my arms.
She disappeared from my very touch.
Her life form seemed to evaporate
Without the holding of my hand and such.
I thought of her a whole awful lot,
Waiting for her return.
Though her presence is what I sought,
Her smile is what I yearn.
The emptiness inside my chest
Is eating me alive.
Without her, I cannot rest.
I cannot live my life.
I count the passing hours
Like sheep before a dream.
For when my thoughts begin to tower,
I'm ripping at the seams.
When the time is right,
I see her face once more.
But this time the cheeks are flush and bright
And down the tears come pour.
I kiss her on the forehead.
Tell her it'll be alright.
But I know more is to come
And we'll have to continue the fight.
