Mannequins
Mannequins
Glassy-eyed Mannequins
Posing
Stiff, motionless, lifeless
They watch, with perfect features
From behind the glass,
But life
Passes them by.
The Mannequins are among us,
Beautiful, yet terrible,
A fear that hangs over us.
No one should be
This cool.
No emotion,
No life.
They exist in a world of sterile edges
And crystal clarity,
And yet they miss it.
The thing that really
Makes us beautiful.
The mess, imperfection, kindness.
We live, they exist
In a perfectly controlled world,
There is no life.
And the mannequins
Sleep
With their eyes open.
