False Connection
The piece of metal in your hand
Never seems to leave your sight.
To you, life is always super bland
Unless you see that screen just right.
Do you remember that night we spent?
And of course, you absolutely don’t.
You were too worried about that text you sent
Staring intently at your cellphone.
I used to think we had something special
From all the memories we shared.
But now I know it was all mental
I don’t know why I wasn’t prepared.
For all we have is a false connection
While the phone has four bars.
I no longer feel much affection
For you - the one with the handheld scar.
