chlorine's ghost
still clinging to my skin
i emerge

cold air slices my dripping body

the abandoned fridge
embraces only a bottle of '96
chardonnay. i toast to happier times

[and three glasses later, a
primitive voicemail soliloquy
entreats your
memories, too]

a strange institution, monogamy

when you looked at her
i knew where your mind
wasn't
