I stood there in the empty silence
With gloom all around,
I wish there was defiance
But no one dare sound.
Well that was our supposed fate
The will of one helpless soul,
A freak, as saw many
With heart as black as coal.
I sit now counting my last few
As my shadow shrinks smaller
While my heart is askew
I wish now I was just a bit taller.
Oh then I could have passed off
As that aristocracy,
Lived the luxury of freedom
And gone towards democracy.
Even though it is still dawn
Now I think I have to go,
The coward sharpens his knife,
I can hear the boatman row...
