Falling
“Life is the sum of experiences that we encounter...
Day to day struggles and triumphs…”*
When you think you have everything
you’re on top of the world.
But a year can change that.
A year can change everything.
I guess that makes you a better person,
you learn from the past,
you figure out what went wrong.
And as the dull days drift by,
you heal and mend,
the anger and grief wash away through a waterfall of tears.
Now I sit in the back of the room
all emotions and feelings floating away
bit by bit until it’s a vague pain.
But I can still feel it.
Just a year ago, everything was perfect
and now it’s not.
I ask myself why
as I ignore
the sympathy, the sorrow, the shock, the surprise
that bubble around me
from unwanted voices.
As the music sings its sad songs,
I remember the good times
when everything was
perfect.
Today, I sit in a chair in the back of the room
and listen.
