For Now
I often sit
and fear the time
that is ticking by
and when you think
as I do
about a clock
I promise you will cry
You fear aging
losing youth
so many remedies you will try
but time will
always
catch up with you
so for the next minute relax and sigh
Instead of worrying of the clock
be grateful of it too
Because it’s time
that makes us grateful
for all the things we do
For now your legs are powerful
and you can jump and dance and run
For now your skin unblemished
so soak in all of the sun
For now your back is strong
so go get dirty in the mud
For now all your family with you
so accept each crushing hug
For now your eyesight perfect
so stare upwards, gaze at the sky
For now your hearing uncanny
so whistle with the birds up high
For now you have good questions
so ask if you want to know
Where could the answer take you?
Well, where would you like to go?
Many things won’t last forever
so appreciate what you have along the way
Be amazed at the For Nows seen and held
because they won’t forever stay.
