First week:
Screams of joy,
Free from the year,
Yet shackled to summer homework,
It’s just sinking in.
Second week:
Finally getting to the chores,
the refereeing,
responsibility.
Just hoping that money and fun will follow.
Third week:
A balance,
a constant toil,
between the optional,
the critical,
and the family vacations.
Some things you can’t get out of,
once you are roped into them.
