A long sigh escsapes her lips
As she prepares her fragile heart
for the dilemma of the night
Always a friend in need
Whose pained words lie, heavy on her sohulders
Cascading thoughts or a spilled soul
Though friends forever grateful
for the gentle words she offers in response
Provided with an already heavy shoulder to lean on

But when her own time comes, she is mute
Basking in silent suffering
More tears on her shoulder than in her eye
But enough to blur her vision
Preventing any differentiation between their needs and hers

But always her burdens in the end.
