How did I come this far
This fast?
I remember when I was waiting, wanting to be here
Thinking it was all cupcakes and cookies
Now I'm wanting to slow down time
Make the most of what I have
All the cupcakes and cookies I can hold
Looking forward to a beautiful future
But afraid of losing the present

In order to have this time I have
I can't lose myself inside
I have to know me, and know the world
And love them equally the same

The author's comments:
When I was younger, I saw seventeen as a glamourous age of freedom and fun. What I didn't see is all the responsibilities and trials that came with it. So often we lose the present in daydreams of the future. Now I know to live in the present and make a difference--today.
