The Voice Within Me
I've never really felt the same
After one day someone called my name
"Sara, stop worrying about what other people say. It'll get back to them one day.
Stop worrying about what other people do. Nobody can define you but YOU."
I can't help but stay aware,
That deep down my self consciousness will always be there.
But as I get to know what makes me, me
Those waves of insecurity get lost in the sea.
And when I'm not feeling my best,
When my head won't let my worries rest,
I've learned to give myself the ultimate test-
Love yourself the way you are
Keep an open mind, watch- it'll take you far
And when I have a chosen a path and have children of my own
Food on the table and a welcoming home
I'll be sure to sit them down and make them read this poem
