The Swap
Parents divorcing
no quality time
tearing their children's hearts open
screaming throughout our body
Rushing home to their new family
Swaping out old childrens presence
Replacing new childrens presence
Never looking back on the old
Eating on shiny platters
Forgetting the old
Experiencing guilt
Remembering the old
kicking the new to the side,
rushing back to the old.
Vision filling with the old
The old has flown away,
off to a great new place
Filled with tradition and love
But he wants the old
The guilt has taken him over
everythings changed
nothing will be the same,
The old has moved on
But he knows the mistake he made
He lives with regret forevermore.
