Torture
I hold in my hands the key to it all…
When you’re quiet,
You can hear it…
The sound of our breathing
Never missing a beat,
Our song that never ends.
When you focus,
you can see us…
Sitting and starting
Forced to look into
Each other’s eyes for eternity.
When you listen,
Really listen,
You can hear the quiet sobs
Of someone who will never have what they need.
I will never have what is right in front of me.
I hold in my hands the downfall of it all…
He holds in his hands
An identical thing.
I can see it…
I see our deaths in each other,
Lurking around the corner,
Watching and waiting.
We aren’t allowed to speak.
We aren’t allowed to touch.
We aren’t allowed to speak.
We aren’t allowed to see.
All we are is…
Sitting and staring,
Watching and waiting,
Hoping and praying,
And getting nowhere.
Trapped because of we.
Longing for the day that the pain will stop.
I hold in my hands…
The light to my dark,
The yes to my no,
The life to my death.
I hold in my hands…
The force that keeps me going.
The force that shuts me down.
I hold in my hands…
The source of my pain,
And the hearth to my fire,
All at once.
His heart…
Barely beating,
Fresh and bleeding
My everything,
In my hands I hold…
And in his hands…
Is mine.
