Cradle of Knowledge
Strong, intelligent, unbreakable
That’s what they called Rome
and now look at it…
But mere shambles on the ground
I am unbreakable.
Bullying doesn’t get to me
The words don’t penetrate
-that deep
Knowlege makes me supreme
and I’ve got the GPA to prove it.
Atop a cathedra of books and few
sheets of paper
I am fine.
Alone.
Not making jokes with friends I never had
My career is more important
My future paycheck is more important
For the kids I don’t have
With the man I haven’t met
Because I am unloved
Atop my now faltering throne
I recieve the weight of the
world in a packet of paper
-Husband
-Work
My teacher looks at me anxiously
I’m fine
I’m fine
The bough won’t break
I’m fine
