It was only a dream
With you gone I can’t eat a thing
Without your smile I can’t even sing
My heart aches and I can barely think
My hand shacks when I try to drink
The happiness you brought me was too much to bear
And when you left I found myself scared
I used to think that I found you
But now I realize that you found me
And now that I sit and write this poem
I realize that you really weren’t gone
I dreamt of the sadness
I dreamt of the pain
If only I could dream the sorrow away
