Childhood Friend

To you, in all my childhood memories
Out in our field picking blackberries
Or over in the park looking for fairies
Or down by the lake, playing with no worries

Six and seven now, riding bikes down the street
And running down the road with blacktop stained feet
Then stuffing our mouths with peaches until we couldn't eat,
All in the summer with the wonderful heat

Now all grown up and apart with nothing to say
So longer my friend, I bid you a bay
Maybe we will happen to meet again one day
And rekindle this friendship that got thrown away
