Happiness
Happiness can be mine,
I just need to achieve it.
I deserve a reason to smile,
I just need to believe it.
If I can shine, then I’ll be fine,
and even just for a little while,
I’ll grasp onto my reason and never leave it.
Happiness, it can be reached,
but only if I strive.
Anything can be my own,
but I need to stay alive.
If I stay on my feet, not looking down at the street,
and find happiness as it is shone,
then I’ll find a reason to let my smile revive.
Happiness can be anywhere
if I allow myself to see
that even in my darkest times,
I’m whatever I want to be.
Even when I’m scared, a smile is shared
and laughter is loudly mimed
as happiness finds its way to me.
Happiness is the setting sun,
vivid colors glowing bright.
It’s in the way God looks onto the world
even in the fear and loneliness of night.
One day I’ll run, free from under the gun
of my own mind and I’ll infer
that happiness is something that can be mine if only I put up the fight.
