Write fast. Write far.

Hangnail
Beautifully Broken
Delightfully Dangling
Off my middle finger
Which bleeds in one corner
Crying Crimson

You seem different
Free
Unrestricted
Blowing in the Breeze like that
Makes me sorry for the other nine
Not to mention those unfortunate ones
Stuck on the ends of Terrible Toes

No, you are not like them
You are special
You were chosen
By fate
Destiny
Or perhaps something above
To be Free of my Forceful Fingers
Which were unwilling to let you leave

But you knew
Somehow
That if my hand lingered in the doorway
Even if only by a moment
You could be Let Loose
Liberated
So, as my other hand grasped the door
You saw your chance, and took it
You persuaded my hand to delay
And so it did

The door landed perfectly on you
Blood flowed, you flew
Jumping free from the chaos
But my finger had caught on
It grabbed and clung on
In the top right corner of my right hand
And there you remained

I hurried inside to inspect the damages
Then I saw you
So brave
So close to
Succeeding in your goal
Willing to leave everything
Just to be free of my hand’s oppression

And so I pinch you
And rip you off
Granting you your well deserved liberation.

I really enjoyed the subtle humor in this - the style, of course, was very impressive - particularly the alliterations, but it was your ability to pull of a poem on the topic of hangnails that really blew me away. I'd been under the impression for the last few months that there really wasn't anything that hadn't been written about before, hadn't already been expressed by a writer or actor or TV producer who did a better job of it anyway, but this poem has given me hope. Thank you for a very enjoyable read.
